Ingredient context

Sea Buckthorn is one of the more mechanistically well-documented actives in the range. Its Omega-7 content, palmitoleic acid, has been shown in published in-vitro and in-vivo research to increase keratinocyte proliferation and migration, and to accelerate wound closure in grafted burn models. While these are extreme test conditions compared with everyday skin care, they provide useful evidence of genuine regenerative activity and help explain Sea Buckthorn's inclusion in GLOW as part of its broader skin-support formulation.

Evidence context

A randomised, triple-blind clinical trial comparing Sea Buckthorn dressings against standard silver sulfadiazine treatment for second-degree burns found shorter healing times with Sea Buckthorn. For everyday skin health rather than wound care specifically, Sea Buckthorn's carotenoids and tocopherols provide antioxidant defence against UV- and pollution-driven oxidative stress. Its documented effect on collagen-degrading MMP enzymes also gives it a legitimate collagen-preservation role. Within GLOW, this combination of antioxidant protection, regenerative context and collagen support makes Sea Buckthorn one of the formula's more strongly mechanistically supported botanical ingredients.
